Oxygen Audio O'car - will it fit?

Postby McOz » Fri Jul 29, 2011 11:51 am

Hi All,

I'm looking at purchasing an Oxygen Audio O'Car head unit:

http://www.oxygenaudio.com/o-series/363-o-car.html

And received the following advice from the sales lady:

O’Car is a slightly larger single DIN unit that most car stereos, so please read the attached manual with product dimensions and installation requirements to make sure it will fit your vehicle before purchasing.
It will not fit in most Japanese cars.

(I've uploaded the manual here if anyone is interested: http://www.padgett.com.au/files/OCAR%20MANUAL.pdf)

Will this fit in a '90 NA6?

From my last round of research - the answer is No.

Not only will it take up the space of 2 DINs, it also requires modification to the casing because it's wider than the standard bracket.

It's always "possible" mate but I would talk to an expert like FHRX to figure out how much more effort (and $$$) you'll need to spend to make it fit.

Hey the head unit will not fit without modifcaiton.

pretty much it will go into your din slots however, the bracket that holds the head unit/cover whateva u got there in place. is to small, you'd have to customise it a little a bodgey fit could be done but judging by the dimensions it seems the actual FACE of the deck is BIGGER than a single DIN (in width) so it might stick out a bit..

Anything iPhone based is crap anyway. Dont bother with it :)

I am selling a head unit if u are interested ur welcome to PM me it is a KVT-532DVD Kenwood (single din) flip out touch screen head unit. On eBay atm :)

sorry for the delayed response, been out all weekend. Thanks for the replies.

I'm happy to take up two din slots, but I'm unclear on which bit would need modification? I also don't mind if it sticks out a bit.

There's an actual metal box with holes on both sides that allows you to install your single/double din head units into.

It's the top left and top right pieces that might need modification if it's too wide for the stock ones...

Again - I would strongly advise that you talk to a professional audio installer first as I know that Oxygen stuff aint cheap... :|
