Water injection

I did a search and found that a number of people have water injection systems. Thought we could gather that info in one place, especially with summer coming.

My question is, is anyone using it on a non-turbo car? A few people I know using Aquamist for example have found substantial gains...then of course, there's the opportunity to add methanol, hehehe! :twisted:

I've heard claims of it helping to clean the insides of the engine as well. Anyone actually seen that improvement?

No E85 sold in Brisbane. Last time I checked, water being pumped to very home.

e 85 is sold in brisbane, just not at servos.

Im on a phone, so its too hard to check, but caltex's site lists all servos with it available. When I asked the sydney boys where to get it some said it wasnt available at all. Truth was that there was about 20 servos.

The new commodore is showing strong sales with the E85 option, and it will become a standard fuel. So if it really is not available, it sure will be.

As for the convenience argument, chasing girls until your 30 isn't convenient, but its worth it :lol:

Also paying 500+ for a water injection setup, only to have to fill the tank all the time, and check it nonstop, because if it runs out, bye bye engine.

Any specific questions, about either I may be able to answer? Whos kit are you looking at? All the ones good enough if you consider your engine worth anything makes a megasquirt look like spare change, and at that point, youd chuck in the MS and tune on E85.

You do realize the water is a compromise there to solve a problem you don't have in a naturally aspirated car? You don't have intake temp problems and water does not produce as much power as air.

Brisbane has 6 servos with e85, and thats just caltex ones.

I know that water injection benefits FI cars most, but a couple if owners used them in NA cars (in Asia) to "help cool intake temps".

I'm doubtful if the benefits in NA cars - marginal performance gains, but perhaps the cleaning benefit some mfrs have claimed?

I was wondering if it might be feasible for occasional benefit (eg in hot weather).

Dann - I was under the impression that you don't need to run it all the time?

You dont need to run water ever :lol:

Turbo guys run it only in under heavy boost, its intended to stop knock by reducing charge temps considerably, most of its work is done in the cylinder not in the intake. Does that answer your question?

It's called e-Flex. Their Bio fuel and it has 85% ethanol.

Got it! Snake oil for NA then.

E85...not so conveniently available around where I usually go for petrol at the moment.
