That stuff is upwards of $75 on the shelf. You can find the AP fluid on ebay to.

If you're going to buy brake fluid on eBay, it would be a good idea to ask the seller for the manufacture date printed on the bottles. You'd hate you get stuck with old stuff!

So heres some progress updates.

You can see the Sparco is in and no other interior other than door cards and pedals/gearstick/wheel is in. A fully stripped dash is going back in shortly.

Anyone wants this block off plate for a reroute I made pm me.
You can see where it goes, and im keeping the whole housing off and putting a 30mm welsh plug in that hole you can see.

Have you got another picture of the seat? My race car has go an old Sparco in it to but I cant find the model or even a list online of past models to compare with...The cover has gone all thin and picked up a tear when I was last on track but I do know that if you can tell Sparco what the model is they can sell you a new cover and foam.

Long story....anyway, maybe our seats are the same.

I dont have regular access to a pc, >95% of my posts are from a nokia.

When I can ill upload plenty, i intentionally didnt show much of it because the covering is super rooted. Really bad.

Im considering getting sandable foam from clark rubber and glueing it on to make it my exact shape then glueing on black stretchy fabric with my nans help :P

Should be super comfy, very supporting, one off, and best of all, like all my work, almost free.

That was my other thought for recovering it. Maybe even go so far as to buy a seat kit (you know the bag you put foam in and vacuum the air out?) to get a really good fit. Pricey though.

The one thing that put me off a bit is that my car is log booked so therefore needs a seat that is FIA / CAMS compliant which I would assume includes some sort of fire retardant covering and foam. Of course the seat probably does not technically meet requirements anyway as its sticker with the FIA standards has long fallen off....I'm loathe to get rid of it though as the shell is kevlar so it weighs sod all.

Any flockwit can buy a solution with gazillion dollars, it take a real genius (maverick?) to make a solution from scraps of sheetmetal, sticky tape and WD40. Keep on Truckin'. :D

So xatz (john) above, will be trialing a reroute setup I plan to make a few of, next week.

The reroute will be on an exchange basis (the thermostat cover), use a thermostat on the block not inline on a hose like M Tuned, and will NOT use a thermostat housing spacer. Rather than the spacer it will use a modified stock thermostat housing, hence the exchange necessary.
It would also come with the option to retain the stock throttle body heater and hence the front thermostat housing (the whole unit, the bit that sticks of the front on the engine) using a block off plate like an M Tuned kit, or it would include instructions to easily remove it completely, along with the throttle body heater system, significantly cleaning up the engine bay, and retain a stock look for the cops, and a very modified look for mx5 nuts. (no thermostat block off plate for cops to see, and no thermostat housing visible at all to really trip out the boys in the club)

The reroute hose will be a metal pipe with only 2 short lengths of straight rubber hose to join it to the engine and the radiator for minimum failure points.

Hopefully doable for half or even a third of the price of an M Tuned reroute, but it wont be as shiny either :P

Include a price for no exchange, as folk like me would rather retain the option to reverse and pay a premium for that convenience.

The thermostat cover is whats being modified and chances are, youll be able to reuse it in the factory location again just fine. With just the sensor aiming sideways not up and a bung to cover the heater hose tube.
Those that want to have one completely standard again, can readily buy the cover from repco for 60 odd dollars whenever they want, its either in stock, or overnight delivery at most stores.
