Sorry to revive this one.. but you can also do the enclosure in the side from fibreglass

here is one i made in the boot of an NB8A we were parting, it was my first time fibreglassing but it came up pretty good!..

I think all the fibreglass only cost about $80-$100 and i have repaired the race car nose cone a couple of times and i would think i have enough left to make atleast 1 - 2 more of these boxes.. and it was pretty fun

Just some food for thought! if people are after a 'snug' fit... the fibreglass moulds perfectly with the shape of the boot and its a pretty cheap way of doing it.

I have just made one similar to that but I wouldn't call it fun at all.

Wrecked 2 pairs of jeans and my favorite Ulawatu tee-shirt. I had fibreglass
from asshole to breakfast and friggin dust from sanding all through my
garage and half my workshop.
All up it took me nearly 30 hours and never, never again will I attempt such a task.
It was however quite rewarding when it was finished.

Black is sound deadening paint. 2 coats inside and out. Makes quite a difference. All the pro installs I studied were using it so why not. Fhrx sells it.

In fact I only just got to thinking the other day about the fact that I now run a 2 x amp, 9 x speaker system.

Maybe I have issues
No point really telling me about it 'cause I can't hear anymore anyway.

That is a really great job you have done there,big thumbs up!

I know exactly what you mean about the FG work though. I actually don't find it THAT bad once I actually get stuck into it, but it's the small things like resin smell (which sticks around forever), the fibreglass cuts, the sanding (and itching from fibreglass dust) and all the bogging which always drives me bloody nuts. As you said though, when you get the end result it really is so damn satisfying
