I meant to say Inner CV's not Outer.............

Spline count (Inner) = 28 male

Halfshaft = d24mm
Inner CV joint hashed area (in between the splines and the seal flange) = d30mm
Inner CV joint spline area = d30mm

Standard 1.8 carrier/housing = SE carrier/housing.
Standard 1.8 axle seals = SE axle seals.

Hope that help you guys out.

Cheers,

Sel

I have been searching for the elusive 28 spline in Mazdas, apart from the early RX4 13B and RX5, and it appears we have out first candidate.

Does anyone know of any aftermarket LSD's for them?

The NA8 and NB8 are the same as the NC and have 26 spline.

Just measured the standard NB8B axles

Spline count (Inner) = 26 male

Inner CV joint hashed area (in between the splines and the seal flange) = d28mm
Inner CV joint spline area = d27mm

Seal surface = d35mm

Yeah I think what they are saying there is that they suit everything and also the 28 spline but they are referring to the RX4 13B and RX5 diff's. It doesn't mention that they are suitable for the SE which will need circlips grooves inside the side gears to accept the circlips on the CV joints whereas the RX4 13B and RX5 dont need the circlip grooves.

They may well make them to suit the SE as well, dont get me wrong I am not saying they wont, just never checked one to say they will. If the SE has a Type 2 torsen already you wouldn't need one anyway, I was more thinking Cusco or Kaaz.

Russell,

Well done, could you also measure the diameter of the halfshaft, then we can make this a sticky ?

Just measured the standard NB8B axles

Halfshaft = d24.4mm

Spline count (Inner) = 26 male

Inner CV joint hashed area (in between the splines and the seal flange) = d28mm
Inner CV joint spline area = d27mm

Seal surface = d35mm

Good to hear Ian although I couldn't imagine anything would go wrong with.

Have you had any wet weather to notice the Torsen yet?

Do you still think it was the right choice of ratio?

The outer Cv on the SE. Half shaft is bigger than the stock NB8B... The rear uprights are the same but with the SE they remove the seal that sits in the upright.
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE
