For actual performance value, I would remove those rear speakers. Not only do they do nothing to enhance your experience in that position, it'll probably distort the sound coming from your front speakers.

For 'show' value, the only way to fit those speakers in that position is to make a box out of MDF.

Like this: http://www.knacktoys.com/Miata/Boss-Frog-and-Rear-Speakers.jpg

To be honest, you'll probably get a better sound experience if you save your time with the rear speakers and install a good sub instead.

I mounted a couple of speakers in a similar fashion. The only thing I have found so far, is to make your own :(

Check this out http://www.miata.net/garage/wbspeakers2.html - I'm lazy so I have not made a rear cover yet.

Damn..

And as for getting a sub that idea is already.in place for me.

I will get a custom sub box made to suit 2 small subs behind the seats.

Save your money and buy better fronts.

Rear speakers in cars we're designed to add rear fill for passengers in the back seats. I don't take all that many people in the back seats of my NA.

and in my opinion i dont think its just rear fill, think about it when you got someone in the passenger seat, if there leg is covering the speaker sounds a little different, same on your side. Back speakers keep the music flowing i believe the front door speakers are great for midbass, if i can get a sub in the cabin i will very soon hopefully. and 2 rear speakers behind the seat will help in a custom sub box:)

Hopefully in a month maybe.

Agree that you'll get some sort of noise from your rears when the passenger side front is blocked BUT don't expect the sound to be clear at all...

It'll be like the background noise and sound effects you hear in a movie that's being played through a 5.1 home theatre system.

Not trying to stop you from getting the rear speakers mate but I would urge that you spend the money on better fronts (this is from a personal experience of actually going down the rear speakers road and failed miserably...)

These are the type of comments I appreciate most - ie. comments by someone who has actually gone down the path with positive or negative results. Learn from them, they'll save you much time, $$$ and frustration.

That's nice.

It's your ears that get to listen to it, so by all means buy what ever you think sounds good. However, almost all music is stereo. You already have a front right channel and a front left, adding rears will only hurt the imaging. Have a read around dedicated audio forums and I'm sure you'll find people with a similar stance to me.
