How to get camber?

Hi,

I'm a bit of a noob in the field of car modifications, so my question is… how do i get camber on a NA MX5?

I've heard of camber plates, but can't seem to find any on the net for mx5's, if anyone could point me in the direction of where to buy them or could tell me other methods of getting camber it would be greatly appreciated :)

The car comes from the factory with eccentric adjusters front and rear to get more/less camber.

Though usually only up to 1.5 degrees neg, though you will get more the lower your car is.

If you want more you can get offset bushes in either lower or upper control arms, or both, and this gets you more camber than you'll need..

NA's don't have camber plates (not even on aftermarket suspension). Camber is adjusted via eccentric bolts on the lower control arms (front and rear). So... You will get your camber from adjusting these bolts/lowering it. Additionally you could buy aftermarket control arms for more camber but I'm sure you will get enough out of the OEM adjustability.

I am running Koni and Kings and i manage to get 2.3 degrees front and rear.

Step 1: Go to wheel alignment shop
Step 2: Tell them how much camber you want, give them money
Step 3: ??????
Step 4: PROFIT

That's really as simple as it is with an MX5.

You can even skip steps 1 and 2 if you're a bit handy and/or weird and enjoy spending your time discovering new and interesting uses for a ball of twine and a spirit level.

Thanks guys i'll look into it.

I'm actually looking at some wheels at the moment where i may need to do a roll and tuck, with camber to actually fit the offset.

15x8, problem is the seller doesn't know the offset (doesn't list it on the wheel), it has massive dish though, unfortunately the seller can't be bothered to measure the offset so when i get my tax done (providing they'r still for sale) i'll go have a proper look at them.

enough for the wheel to fit under the fender? as i'm not familiar with this area i can't quite give an exact number, though i am aware that excessive camber wears heavily on tyres, which is what i don't want.

...it's looking to me that these wheels would require flares anyway.

I only really want to pump the guards instead of going for flares.

They may not even suit an mx5, but it has sparked an interest in camber which i'm keen to learn about :P

Legit SSR? Nice.

Looks like it would take some effort to fit but given the wide variety of wheels that have been squeezed under "stock" guards before, I'm sure they'll fit with a bit of work.

Visually they look to me like they'll take a fair bit of guard work to fit. Would be interested to know what the offset is.

They are legit, but were originally 15x10 but then professionally cut down to 15x8 by a place called 'DR wheels'.
