My car has been at the mechanics over the past few days.
We looked over the brakes, they were perfect.
We tested the back wheel, there was a little bit of muck on the hub which was holding the wheel on, we managed to get it off without hesitation. This however was not the issue.
We then found that the knuckle connecting the diff to the half shaft had a sheen on the edging and the exhaust above had small dents in it. We then went straight to fixing this issue as it seemed the most likely source. We took the car out for a test run after fixing the problem... clunk, clunk, clunk.... no good.
I have been told that they will replace both half shafts at no cost, i am hoping that this will fix the issue.

Sorry you couldn't find the problem, while we are discussing weird noises... I have a clunking noise when the wheels locked at a hard right, i only notice at low speeds, but i'm sure it's apparent at all stages of movement.
thinking bushes?

I had the same problem after a wheel alignment a few years back, it was one of the nuts was allowing the members to move slightly and make a cluncking sound only on full lock and slow speed.

Re: One of those "Concerning" noise's...
Back out to check the issue today.
We hoisted the car up and went over everything with a fine tooth comb, the half shafts and tail shaft appeared fine. We could replicate the noise when either rear wheel was turned by hand, not every time though. It sounded like it was coming from the diff, however the diff does not feel rough or damaged at all.
Basically, i have been told to keep an eye/ear out for it over the next few thousand Km's. I have also been reassured that it's nothing threatening to the drive line of the car and i don't need to be concerned.
Knock on wood i guess...

Thats interesting that you were able to reproduce the noise moving stuff by hand, I haven't been able to find the noise on my car doing that.

Re: One of those "Concerning" noise's...
Over the last few days, the noise has been getting louder and louder. On my way home last night, i decided i did not want to hear it, i was so sick of the clunking. I threw the roof down and turned up the music and left it at that.
When i was on my way home this evening, i thought i would leave the roof up as it was pretty cold. Throughout the whole trip, i did not hear the noise once. I tried and tried to replicate it but absolutely nothing happened. Usually, it would always be there, sometimes quiet, sometimes loud. But tonight, Nothing! I got out of the car win i got home and pushed down on the rear quarter (which would always make the sound) still nothing, i checked under the car and everything looked fine.
Either it has gone away temporarily or it is gone for good, weather it was something caught somewhere or i have broken something is another question. The car feels fine though.
Moral to this story for now...? Deadmau5 and Muse fix annoying rattles

Deadmau5 fixes everything. Best driving music ever.
Did you consider it may have been something to do with the roof?
