Rotrex kit for NA6

Postby gslender » Tue Jul 26, 2011 6:50 pm

Update from Europe.....
The kit consists of:

Rotrex Supercharger (installed where to aircon pump normally is, but since we are living in a very cold region of the world the cars are not equipped with this - dont know if this is an issue in AU)
Specialmade alubracket for the supercharger incl belt tensioner system
Drivebelt
Front mounted intercooler
Special designed silione hoses.
Bypass valve
Bolt, nuts etc for installing the kit.

The factory intake system is used for the supercharger system, so you will retain factory look.

Normally we will rebuild the factory ecu to match the supercharger installation, but that might be a bit diffcult to do for you remote customers. Furthermore many of you guys may already have aftermarket ecu installed. Alternativley we could offer you some kind of piggyback system. In our region there is no need for an oilcooler for the supercharger, but I guess that might be a good option for you. This will add approx 100 euro to the price.

I will send you some pictures once i receive the final parts from suppliers.

Thoughts???

Rotrex kit for NA6

Yes, I believe so, but will confirm along with any other suggestions ( like asking for a "with A/C" option and oil cooler etc)

The kit itself 'may' be ok. Has anyone successfully run this gear yet?

You will require some form of spark and fuel control so that will be an additional cost over the kit.

Does your car currently have AC? Would you be willing to lose it? I'm pretty sure they're saying the AC will replace the AC unit so there is no "keeping AC" as it bolts into the same location.

You haven't come for a ride in my car yet. Offer still stands.

In my opinion, every single boosted car needs a full standalone ecu such as megasquirt.

Much better they tell you to do it rather than just throw in some resistors and a RRFPR and call it a complete kit.:rolls:

I'd be keen on a kit if they have one for an NA8? I can sort out the intercooler and ecu part.

Yeah, they are just down the road from me... So going to also chat to them about making a 1.6 bracket too. Just looking at options and who's doing what etc.

Also spoke to Bulletcars today -they are the AU/NZ distributors of Rotrex, and they sell a NA8 kit.

Email from their Engineering manager...
We would definitely be able to supply you with the correct sized Rotrex Supercharger to suit the 1.6. Pricing for this would be $2490 and would include the C30-64 Supercharger, supercharger drive pulley, 1 litre of Rotrex traction oil, magnetic filter, oil reservoir, oil cooler, oil lines and clamps.
With regards to the bracket, it is not as easy as getting us to make a bracket. This is impossible without a vehicle as we have got absolutely nothing to go on e.g mounting points on engine, pulley alignment, engine bay constraints etc.

He included a design pic of the 1.8 bracket to give me an idea of what they'd need to modify for the 1.6
Image

I'm going to pop down to them as they are only 15 mins away. I'll chat to them about building a bracket and also what else would be in a DIY kit etc. I've mentioned the possibility of a group buy, and they are keen to do this to keep costs low.

I guess it would be the time to ask re EOI so that I can judge if this is just me, or if others are keen/interested.

So please let me know so I can judge numbers of interested people, and what you'd like to know.

I'm interested..
Sorry didn't get to read this earlier.

If it was everything minus ECU -
that would be great for under $3000.

For all new gear it looks like a compact unit that would probably work well.

Does the bullet setup include intercooling or just the blower and bracket theoretically?

My style setup can be had for less.
