Hey all,
I just want to show you a trap some people might have when they change their timing belt.
I had problems when the car wouldnt start after changing the timing belt due to a plate which was put on backwards.
this plate sits on the crank pully and has 4 little pins on the disc. these pins line up with a sensor to fire the spark in the cyclinder
it has a locating hole at the top which should almost line up vertically with the crank timing marks, however when put on backwards it wont line up with the sensor!
when fitted properly the plate pin should be just past this sensor (ie. 10 degrees from center)
I have pictures attached.
if you do put this plate on backwards and the car seams to crank fine, but wont start - use a bit of petrol down the cyclinders to clean the injectors (only if it was back firing while the plate was on backwards)
