6 Speed Front Input Shaft Seal

Anyone know a source. I havent called the regular suppliers through work yet. And worst case scenario ill take the seal into a bearing shop, but I figured id ask if anyone had a good source?

Oh and the regulars dont list a cam cover seal. Anyone have a good source for that?

More than likely it will be an NOK seal and they should have the part no. around the face of the seal. If you can get the part no. off the seal then go to or call a CBC store they should be able to get it for you.

I am pretty sure it will be hidden behind the clutch bearing slide so you would need to take that part off to see it. I will check the listing on Monday to see if there is a part no. listed for you if you like, I would have done that today but thought you would have already had it apart or the problem solved.

Cheers mate, Your right im just being lazy asking here. Ill go pull the seal out and come back in ten or 15 with the part number. Id appreciate if you could look it up if its not out of your way.

Ok so it not the seal. Nor is it the silicon seal around the input shaft housing/bearing slide. So all that oil must have been rear main. Damn thats a lot. I have a new rear main, doing it on sunday.

But I wouldnt mind If you could look up a price you could get me a nok ae6901g?

Id be very appreciative, Im unlikely to be looked after at the local bearing place.

PS anyone know where to get a cam cover seal cheap? Im not happy with repco/mazda pricing.

AE6901G is a pretty standard part no. If you call a CBC store they should be able to give you a reasonable price.

Where are you located?

If you can wait I can get a price on Monday or I can tell you the branch managers name of the closest store and ask for them and tell them I told you to give you a good price or I'll know.

*****ok just saw your in Newcastle....... Not sure who will be working saturday Maitland or Mayfield west the best store for you?

Yeah its a pretty standard mazda diff seal. Mx5, rx7, rwd 323, many commercials etc But repco, bursons etc cannot get one.

I notice in a recent thread you have reffered to an ae6901-F- rather than the G i have just quoted. Out of interest, whats the difference?

This one has a big extra lip on the driveshaft side. Is that it?

Dont use anything else but NOK they are what was in there genuine and will always work.

Mayfield West...... not sure who'll be working there tomorrow. You'd probably have more chance of Maitland having the seal on the shelf because it is the head office for N/castle.

It will be a slight difference or you could find that the "G" will have little directional ( clockwise or anticlockwise )lines on the main sealing lip of the seal....... the part that actually contacts the shaft. Those lines actually create a disturbance on the point of sealing and almost force the oil back into the diff away from the outside, but only very slightly.

Without having it or a catalogue in front of me one of the 2 will have those lines and the other wont have the lines but it generally makes no difference....... in saying that always try to put back in what you have pulled out. If you cant get the exact seal then make sure if you replace it with another part no. that the new part no. doesn't have the little lines on it, if you get a replacement and the lines go in the opposite direction it will work in reverse and actually pull the oil out of the diff.

Ah I see. Hang on, It might represent different directions. You know how you need those lines facing opposite ways on each side. Only just noticed this seal doesnt have them. Sweet, learn something new every day.

The 6901 part of the no. is the body no which will designate the dimensions then there will be differnces in the material of the rubber ( nitrile/Polyacrelate/silicone ), directional ( clockwise or anticlockwise ) then the flange that comes off the face to act as a pre seal keeping major particles away from the main sealing lip.

The ones I can think of now would be AD6901E , AE6901E , AE6901F , AE6901G , AE6901H , AH6901E plus more.

so as you can see there is many different versions and all have slight differences.
