HI,
My 2 door stock speakers died due to rain getting inside the door so I went and brought myself a pair of 6'1/2' pioneer splits
I took out the stock speakers (5x7) and then i realised my pioneers wont fit.
So i decided to make a template on a piece of wood.
Used jigsaw to cut the border.
Then drew a circle in the middle using the template provide with the speakers.
Jigsawed the circle.
Then screwed it on the door and reconnected all the wiring.
Sounds fxxking mad now, a much improvement from stock.

Thanks for sharing, what's that shiny stuff above the speaker? Sticky tape or part of the old plastic rain seal on the inside of the door?
Way back when I put my speakers in I was told it's best to silicon around the speaker to make it as airtight as possible. There's some audio gurus on the forum, is this still what people do?

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Its plastic to zeal and cover the back of the speakers from inside.
I didnt have a silicon so i just screwed the speakers it on the wood.
It looks like a doggy job but it actually took me 4 hours to complete the job lol

I would Dynamatte the doors if i was gonna change a whole new set up (head unit, amp, sub etc.) but all i wanted was to replace to broken speakers so i could get music playing again.

Mate, you'll need to water-proof the insides of the doors on specific places to stop the rain water causing rust on the wiring (speakers are normally waterproof).
Water will always get into the compartment during heavy rain but as long as your waterproofing is good, it wouldn't do any harm.
