Hi All,
Anybody know where I should go for info on how to add an auto tensioner to my SC Kit.
I have tried replacing the belt only lasts a month before you can't tighten it enough.
Thanks
Adam

Re: BEGI Autotrotor Kit - Auto Tensioner
Have you tried a shorter belt?
When I use a new belt I adjust it 5 minutes after installing then about a week later and then it doesn't stretch further.
Regarding an autotensioner find an autotensioner from the wrecker and attach it to a plate making sure the alignment is right. I've had no issues with my home-made manual tensioner as long as I used an appropriately short belt.
Are you 4 or 6 rib?

6 Rib,
You have to tighten the belt by levering the idle pulley arrangement, then tightening the fixing bolts, there isn't a Tightening screw.
Can I see a picture of your "home made" manual tensioner? maybe i can modify mine in some way.
Any mechanics in the Melbourne (Bayside) area or forum sponsors, anybody would recommend for this type of work?
Cheers

Mine is a modified AC tensioner for the NA6. I can take a photo later.
Can you post a picture of your current tensioner?
What a lot of the UK Mini-SC guys are running are these TR Lane copies of another JRSC tensioner, perhaps you could get something like that to work?

100 Pounds but the plans are available online if you wanted to create one yourself.

Wow, thanks for all the great info.
Don't have my car with me today, so can't take a photo,
but My Tension-er doesn't have the adjustment screw (top left of them image you linked). This would make it much easier to tighten.
Thanks Again

Re: BEGI Autotrotor Kit - Auto Tensioner

This is what my Tensioner looks like. Corky Bell ( designer of the kit ) thinks the pulleys are probably just worn out.
Will find a machine shop to discuss both fitting an automatic tensioner and refinishing the Pulleys.
Thanks for your help.

Re: BEGI Autotrotor Kit - Auto Tensioner
Fitting an automatic tensioner to that would be super easy.
Just make a plate that bolts onto the same places as your existing tensioner then drill some holes in said plate to mount the tensioner. Easy!
I'd try with a shorter belt first. Try a belt that you can only JUST fit over the pulleys when new and you'll have less trouble in my experience. Just go into repco with your existing belt size and ask to try one size lower.
