If you can bend the factory steel with you fingers you could bend an aluminium one with your 5 year old sisters fingers just pointing out Dann that if you build it out of Aluminium, if something flys up off the road it will bend it a lot more easier than it would bend steel.

Mate if you've got it there you may as well give it a go, I have no intention of ribbing you if it goes wrong, if you have plenty there you may as well try it, I just didn't want you to go and buy some and find out it wasn't suitable. Most of the time backing plates have bent edges, grooves, etc all put in with the intension of adding strength to the thin plate. But give it a go if you have it there, it will only cost you time.

Yeah those bends give them strength. Lately ive been wishing I have more shop like tools. I keep looking at a bench drill and a light duty hand mill.
And you probably figured it out but I dont do anything if it costs more than 10 bucks haha.

Yeah I know, Ive been looking at them and thinking about it. I need to find a better supplier of coils, and mine wont have the mounting plate.
A few things to work out, like where to get cheap ignitors.
But on the other hand, shipping for those is like 50 bucks, and you can just slap me around the head for anything that goes wrong as your sure to see me around hahaha.
I mean, I did mine for ALMOST free and its as nice as those are. but I got the coils and loom for cheap as on some luck.
The deciding factor will be how cheap I can get quality coils as im not in it for profit.
Also, check the spark these things make !!!
Try to open the gap on your plugs to just 3mm on a stock system and see if it will fire them!!

Yeah because it looks dodgy. Also people will ask whats with the flouro orange bit, and id have to explain the sealer to keep water out etc etc.

So Ive made up my mind RE the ducting, at least in part.
Im going to use 2 inch ag pipe for the ducting.
Ive made some brackets up. One bolts on where the factory shield does and holds a piece of 2 inch exhaust pipe right up against the inner disk. the other looks like a 'T'.
The top part of the T goes against the coilover at the bottom and is held in place by some pretty beefy hose clamps. The straight 'l' part of the T is aimed at the caliper itself and will be used to ziptie the ag pipe in place.
So in short, Ill use 2 seperate, black 2" corrugated plasic hoses, one aimed into the disk centre, one directly on the caliper.
Now I just have to decide if I run them into the high pressure radiator ducting box and aim them out the bumper opening, or just cut 4 x 2" holes in the bumper. 2 each side of the mouth.
Thoughts?

he meant steering rack. sourcing a manual one right now actually, hopefully getting it within the week so i can do the conversion

Yeah that would be awesome, i still need to sort out that oil leak problem at the front of the engine. So its the front crankshaft oil seal I need to replace right?

Yeah thats the seal, my engine gearbox and diff comes out sunday for all the seals, should come around maybe we can pick up the lot for a good price.
