I bought the stand and bag of an Ebay seller in the UK called UKCustomCovers. For the quality of the stand and bag it's well worth the money. I can now put my hardtop away in the garage (out of danger), and not have to worry about it collecting dust or getting damaged.

Still happy with the stand and cover for the hard top? I'm about to order one myself

Love the stand and cover. Exceedingly happy. Takes 2 people to put the cover on safely though as it zips up the top. But that's fine.

One thing that concerned me was what seemed like instability (when I first expanded it out - I didn't have the roof on it and it tipped backwards easily). BUT, with the roof on it's a lot more stable. Still though, I keep the back of the stand pointed towards a wall (just in case). That said, I've tried to push it over with the wheels locked and the roof on, and it takes a hefty shove before it even starts to think about falling.

All in all, I'm very happy with the purchase. My hard top is free of dust, and out of the way .

Can't wait to see more of your build too. If you find a place for the oil filter relocator (that isn't the firewall or strut tower) let me know please. lol.



So I spent the morning yesterday at MX5 Mania. Originally I booked the car in for an oil filter relocation kit install + oil change and general checkup. Ended up just getting the oil and oil filter changed, and the CAS O ring while I was there. David also had a quick look over the car and drove it. He came back saying that he felt the steering was dead! This was the first non-power steer mx5 I drove, so I just thought that was normal.

No doubt my alignment is way out of spec. So I'm going to book that in asap and use the settings found in one of the other threads:

Front
Caster 4 deg + (Maximum positive castor, sacrifice a little neg camber to get it if you have to.)
Camber -1.00 deg
Toe Spirited driving: 0.28 deg (2mm in)

Rear
Camber -1.00 deg
Toe 0.15 deg in (total)

My morning wasn't that productive, but it was relaxing spending time just talking with David. Another plus is, my car has been serviced and I can still walk, unlike the last time!

Finally some sunshine today. If you have owned or currently own one of these things, you know exactly what it means when faced with a sunny Sunday morning, and a free pass to do what you want.

"5 degrees celcius", is what my phone said. But the feeling of the sun on my face said, "Top down mate. Top down."

I began my drive alone without a destination, and somehow ended up on the Old Pacific Highway...which then led me to my one and only stop.



At Pie In The Sky I saw this thing.



A TVR Sagaris. I didn't know where the owner was though. I would've approached him and asked if he could start it up so I could witness in person the angry exhaust note I've only heard on countless youtube videos.

On the way I felt my first bit of NA love. I happened across a yellow NA with the top down, solitary driver wearing scarf and beanie. Both of us were arms out above the windscreen waving feverishly. A sign of things to come, this was going to be a good drive.

But, as the story of this drive sounds like it is only just starting, it is ending. There aren't any more photos, just memories of twisty roads, cool crisp wind, sun on my face, and the sound of a whining supercharger.

We ordered a couple of fisherman's baskets and ate outside. But we were rudely interrupted!

I actually don't mind the wheels, it's very hard to find a big wheel that suits the MX5 but i think you have hit the nail on the head.

Thanks CheyneX5 I've been in two minds with the wheels since I bought it last year.

Bootz, I ordered new wheels a couple of weeks ago. They're currently on a boat and on their way from Japan. 15" this time, with dish and lightweight (though the OZ Racing wheels it currently has on it are seriously light).
