Nc gauge installation sydney

Postby Gmi » Wed Jun 22, 2011 5:45 pm

Anyone know good and reasonably priced places around northshore or strathfield area who can install gauges? Preferably have experience with mx5s. Cheers.

No, but when you find one that can install a couple of gauges sympathetically...let me know.
I'd LOVE to get rid of that useless oil pressure gauge and install anything that actually worked, maybe even a big red light, and AFR and boost gauge.

Did you try MX5 mania at hornsby?

the problem is that cars are too well designed and integrated. The makers do not expect that an owner wants to tack something on. The cabin of an MX5 and many other cars does not lend itself to the guy wanting to do mods. I can only guess that a so called oil pressure guage of X dia has to be replaced in the same aperture with a more functional one of the same size- maybe not so easy and maybe not available.

Any GOOD auto electrician can do this for you.

Most cars are basically the same anyway, so an experienced sparky should find it no problem to do.

Problem is Benny that there is just nowhere to put extra gauges where they can be seen.
Hoping that someone will soon build a dashtop pod that actually looks like it's meant to be there.

I have seen a replacement piece for the piano black strip that runs across the dash whcih has some holes in it for extra guages, but I think it is LHD only.
It might be worth removing yours, or buying another, and drilling it out for the guages you want to use then get them mounted there.
Ig you buy another, when you sel the car, you can pull out the gauges, replace the dash trim, and no-one's the wiser.

Another alternative is to buy an A-Pillar pod mount for the gauges.
