Remove screws holding fuel pump assembly in, replace, rinse & repeat :D

and some pictures to go with Liams words (about half way down the page) - link :D

Update - Before resorting to potentially unnecessary replacement of filters / pumps in the fuel tank I did some more testing.

The original fault was fuel cut out and after replacing the fuel filter (which was definitely dirty) the problem went away. But it then seemed to re-appear at odd times and I couldn't definitely relate to g-forces. Having checked the fuel filter again (clean - no problem) I used the tank down to last qtr and \"tested\".

Significant G force at various speeds or directions = occasional cut out.

I filled the tank to the brim and went to a motorkhana yesterday with my Toyo R888's and lowered new Super Streets to \"test\" again.

After nearly ripping my head off with lateral G Forces, not a single sign of fuel cut out... so will now plan for a swirl pot/similar. It's possible I had dirty fuel previously but if the occasional cut out occurs again when this tank (premium fuel again) is nearly all used I think its down to a fuel pickup problem.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I imagine your car is subjected to more substantial g forces than most! Did this issue ever reoccur?

Appreciate this is an old post, but RussellB posted an excellent response earlier this year which might be relevant to OP or Jerrah:

Found it when sorting the following fuel pump in-tank wiring harness/connector issue:

FUEL TANK/SUBFRAME REMOVAL

Jack rear of car. Remove tailshaft, disconnect PPF, disconnect shock absorbers, remove cat back, remove Subframe, remove tank fittings, remove tank.

I dont know if many 5s that experience fuel surge so I doubt your issue requires a surge tank, but I could be wrong.

Wow - old post revival. Short answer is I ultimately replaced the rusty tank. :-) It was not a difficult job once the whole rear subframe is dropped far enough. Did that in the shed on my own with jacks & stands alone.
Cheers

Rusty tank? Mine is a similar age, I hope it's ok. :)
