So for a little while now the spring on the drivers side latch has been really slack, which means it doesn't close properly on that side. In an attempt to try and fix it, I've taken a pair of pliers to it but my hack job still doesn't work. So now I'm looking for where I can get one of these; but from doing a bit of research it doesn't seem to be a part I can order from Mazda. I've tried looking at a few parts sites but I can't find it still. Would anyone happen to know where I can order one of these from?

I'd say that mx5parts.co.uk is the only easy way. Seeing that you're using their photo of it I guess you already know that.

Soft top tension cable spring
Mine rusted out and snapped so I went down to the local mitre 10 and got a replacement spring. It works fine.

I was just wondering if there was somewhere a little more local, as I want to get it fixed fairly soon.

Alright, I'll try looking in hardware stores. Thanks!

Any panel shop will give you one for a beer or whatever, repco whatever, they sell them long like 10cm, without the hooked ends and you cut them to length and just bend the final loop 90 degrees to form the hook.
