Which flange Subaru TD04?

Postby jerrah » Thu Jun 16, 2011 4:24 pm

What size flange is the TD04 used on a Subaru?

I've heard of WRX turbo's being used on MX5's overseas but I guess they're using custom built manifolds?

Custom manis mostly, though the greddy kit uses a td04.... By memory.

Why a td04? also any exhaust supply place can provide a subi flange.

Apparently the Greddy kit uses a different flange to Subaru and Mitsubishi TD04's.

Subaru TD04 is a three bolt triangle looking flange. Interest came from the large number of low km WRX turbo's that seem to float around quite cheap but I think I've gone off that idea already.

Every T25 I've looked at in around the $100 mark has been clapped out.

Rebuild kits are almost free for brass bush garretts like the t25. I got a t25 for 200 that had just been rebuilt by GCG and never used.

The sti turbos are impossible to find and the common wrx ones are just too small. Your lawnmower could spool one on a bad day going downhill at 10% throttle.

Flanges are very easy to make if you cant get one before you buy the mani. Any exhaust shop whos any good has a bench drill, a plazma cutter and some steel stock to cut them from.

i am using the earlier VF10 turbo on my car. its the one that was fitted to the single turbo legacy GT models.
its basically a VJ20 turbo like the 1800 turbo TX3's had but the VF10 has a much larger compresser housing meaning its flows really well at lowish boost levels.

the WRX turbo is designed to flow air really efficiently at higher boost. great for a a 4WD as its gets on the boost early and holds it's efficiency all the way up to 15psi. the vf10 likes to make its boost at lower PSI and be efficient that way.
have a look at my cardomain page in my signature

Well two months ago I thought about it briefly.
