Nick's White NA6

Postby Imari » Fri Jun 10, 2011 12:54 am

Proud owner of a white 1990 NA6 since yesterday. No pics yet, but that will be remedied soon.

Vital Statistics:
Hardtop
~131,000kms
Big nose motor (how? Don't ask me, I'm just happy it's in there... )
DVD player and screen!

Currently enjoying having a million ideas of how to upgrade or modify or improve or keep the car stock. Looking forward to a good long drive on the weekend to really get to know the happy little machine. More news to come as I tinker with the car and get to know it better.

Currently living in Melbourne. Met a lot of very interesting fellows at the Garage Cafe last night. Good grub too.

Cheers Gareth.

Lol, it's not very white under that lighting, is it? More photos to come after I've washed it this afternoon, plus some SEXY new carpets I picked up at Supercheap this morning. I think the extra style added will make the car fast enough to overcome the extra 500 grams added. :P

My latest plan is to track down some mags from an Alfa Sud/Sprint/33 and fit them as my non-racing wheels. A quick bit of photoshop work shows what it will hopefully look like:

Disclaimer: That's not my 5, just a conveniently positioned white one I found on the net.

Or perhaps an even darker black, to match the white car/black wheels fashion that's so popular at the moment.

Too crazy? It's certainly unique, and I think it looks good.

I can point you in the direction of a few people who have sets of those wheels (I nearly bought some for my 33 a while ago).

Interesting idea... You are aware that they are 4x98 not 4x100 stud pattern though... So it will require some re drilling to make it work.

I'm hoping it will be doable without redrilling, the difference between 4x98 and 4x100 is only 1mm on each bolt, and they should have at least that much clearance on an Alfa. It will be all about making sure the hub fits snugly, and using wobble nuts with a head that is able to move slightly off centre. It won't be as strong or safe as a correctly fitted set of wheels, but I plan to maintain my stock NA6 wheels for trackday use with nice tyres on them. These will just be for everyday and looking cool. 8)

Fair enough, sounds like it could work. Should have chatted more last night... You could have test fitted my 33's spare wheel...

Are you coming next week? I could bring the car/wheel as you can do a preliminary test fit. I would test one on mine but as my wheels are 13's I don't think they would clear my 1.8 brakes... if you have standard na6 brakes it should fit.

Yeah, I'll be there next week. If I can try your spare that would be perfect. As far as I know my car has standard brakes, they're certainly small and old looking enough that if they're not standard someone got seriously ripped off. :P
