Re: NatMeet 2012 - Canberra ACT
Please ensure that you wave to all of the police trainees from the Goulburn Police Academy practicing their radar skills. They are very effective even on the back roads. Guaranteed there is always a couple of cars and bikes trying to earn extra credits for graduation.
Although some of these skills won’t be needed as the point to point cameras are now active.
So for those wanting to be more lively, join us at the wakefield day

This will give MX5ers who are thinking about the NatMeet an idea on what it is all about.

Perhaps I've been lucky, but I've not seen one yet on the Goulburn-Taralga-Oberon road and I travel it around twice a month on my way to Wakefield. They are very active within the Goulburn town limits though! The only point to point camera out here is on the Great Western Highway between Bathurst and Lithgow, and at present thay are only targetting heavy vehicles.

Re: NatMeet 2012 - Canberra ACT
The point to points have been installed on the federal highway coming to canberra from goulburn. I did that road last weekend and saw 2 mobile units. They even like to sit by lake george 50km out of town so its not worth the risk.
And Natmeet will be over easter so it will ramp up with double demerits.

Sorry this isn't correct.
The initial deposit for those attending and paying by installments is due on JULY 1.
You can register and make payment up to 1 February 2012.

It's assumptions like this that end up souring Natmeet.
An MX-5 club is more about enthusiasts than concourses, it's not obvious to our club members who consistently vote they'd rather a "show n shine" than a concourse, it's something that people attending need to be aware of, I only knew about it for the Victorian Natmeet because another club member had missed out on winning their category at the Queensland event for that very reason.
It makes sense to publish everything before the event, this is something that has involved a lot of discussion amongst the state Presidents, it means you can assess if you want to attend the event and don't end up feeling like you've been roshambo'd when you turn up to find the rules have changed.
No worries with Concours Rules, they are basically the same as previous years bar one or two items.
For interior marking, the glovebox had to be "clean except for the log book", however confusion arose as to how many points were to be deducted if the log book was missing. This Natmeet and the NSW Club's Concours now have an additional 5 points for the log book being present.
There is also a slight difference in the points available for cars with hardtops. This has been used for a number of years in the NSW Club.
Previously if you had a hard top fitted to your NA, NB or NC (not Roadster Sport) then no points (out of 10) were awarded for the soft top as it couldn't be inspected. Now a maximum of 5 points will be allocated to the condition of the hard top. The thought behind this is that it is far easier to keep a hard top in good condition rather than a soft top. Similarly with the NC Roadster Sport that only comes with the folding hard top, a maximun of 8 points will be awarded where the soft top version has a maximum of 10 points.
I'll ensure that the Concours requirements and marking sheet are available online for all to see.

Re: NatMeet 2012 - Canberra ACT
Sounds good Charlie Brown, will it have a separate section for modified MX-5s?
It's good for people to know these different rules, personally my log book never lives in my glove box, I never keep any personal documents in my car.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Okibi,
Section 1 “Originality” on the marking sheet is broken into two parts, one for Standard and Limited Edition cars and the other for Customised and Modified cars. Points for the two parts are the same (50) so an MX-5 entered in the Modified Class is not penalised for having non OEM parts.
Cars entered in the standard class with a non standard sound system for example will be penalised. If everything else is standard on the car, it's up to the entrant to determine if he thinks he will be better off entering Modified or loosing 5 points in the Standard class.
A copy of the 2011 NSW Concours and Show & Shine marking sheets will be posted by Bob within the next week on the Club site under “Latest News”. The Natmeet Concours marking sheet will follow this format as I’ve said above without and reference to Show & Shine.
The only time my log book comes out of the cupboard at home is for Concours also.

The Natmeet committee has been working hard on the event and has released an important STOP PRESS which should prease those people atending and might help those who have yet to make a decision on attendance.

Re: NatMeet 2012 - Canberra ACT
Wow, a big price reduction to help you come along to what will be a memorable event next Easter.
The registration cost for this event is now within $20 of the South Australian Natmeet cost with inflation, and South Australia
had the added advantage of BIG local government sponsorship that dropped their price by $70 a head!!!
To date we have 70 people registered as coming along, strangely there’s only 2 Victorians.
So get your registrations in quickly and join the Natmeet family. You won’t regret it.

Registration is still open, don't miss out.
Over 130 people and 70 MX-5's so far are coming.
Guaranteed plenty of track time for those registered for the Track Day at Wakefield.

I think the defining feature of the limit is that you own a cardy.
