Experience with Project Mu??

Postby Tony » Mon May 16, 2011 7:32 pm

Has anyone here had any experience with Project Mu pads and rotors?

Supersprint and track day use predominantly, with travel to and from Wakefield / Eastern Creek.

Not personally on my car, but have had friends with them. Project Mu are amazing brakes, that dont suffer from the problems that other brake upgrades do. Most brakes, designed for racing, squeel and are pretty useless untill they are warm. this is not a problem for the track but driving to and from the track its an issue to look out for. Project Mu brakes somehow dont do this. These are rip you face off great stoppers. If you budget allows them then definately get them!!

Great pads! Had them on my ep3 before. Never really used the whole setup before. But Indy at IS motor racing used them on their race cars and said if you get the whole brake setup including calipers they are a bit over priced for there performance in their own opinion. They are really good in terms of track oriented cars, maybe give them a call and ask about the brake performance, I'm sure they are happy to help answer your questions professionally since they have dealt with all sorts of setups and brake combination.
Just search is motor racing in google.

PM RobH on this forum he runs them on his SP.
Big bucks but they get great reviews.

Thanks for the replies gents!

I'd have thought that more MX5s would be running around with Project Mu stuff; admittedly it is fairly pricey though.

For this change out I've decided to go with Series 4000 rotors and Pagid RS19 pads. The rotors are a known quantity, but the pads will be a punt.

The good thing about brakes on a track car is that you can get to experiment with different combinations on a fairly regular basis. Unless I change my mind in the meantime, I'll definitely be trying Project Mu next.
