I have a few questions about the car I have owned for several months.
It’s a 92 Eunos import NA6 V-Special in BRG with about 130,000 km on the clock. It runs very well and has no major issues.
1. I have noticed that when the car is at idle (approx 850 RPM) if I press the clutch in , no change in RPM, if I then select a gear the RPM increases by about 200 RPM. Is this normal and why does it happen.
2. After parking the car overnight or for an extended period of time, soon as you start to reveres I get a groaning sound from the left rear. I’m not sure if it’s a binding read caliper or bearing noise. The noise only lasts about 1 tire rotation and disappears soon as you drive away but every day as I start to reverse out of the driveway its back again. Any ideas what this could be as the mechanic says its nothing to worry about ??
3. My car runs clean through the rev range however I have to push it real hard to hit 6000 RPM is this normal as the thing sounds like its going to explode if I attempt to go any ware near the redline of 7000 RPM

Re: New Owner with a few Questions
Congrats on the purchase. Sounds like it would be a nice car.
1. Idle speed is controlled by 3 switches: throttle position switch (on the throttle body), clutch switch (at the top of the clutch pedal) and gearbox neutral switch (on top left of the gearbox). For the engine to idle at normal speed then at least one of these two conditions must exist:
a) throttle closed and clutch depressed, and/or
b) throttle closed and gearbox in neutral.
My brain hurts tonight because I've been cutting firewood all day and I can't think it through properly, but it sounds like your clutch switch isn't working.
2. Mine's done that for years. 3 changes of pads and a change of rotors hasn't fixed it but it doesn't seem to have done any harm. There's a thread in this forum somewhere about it.
3. NA6 engines are usually sweet little free spinning units. How are your spark plugs, high tension leads and air and fuel filters?

Re: New Owner with a few Questions
The engine should rev freely past 7000. Check lead plugs fuel filter etc.
