Interesting.
I'm goin to be running an adaptronic e420c.
Anybody know if a vl tps will work inthe same application as if using an MS?

Yes, you set it up the same way and calibrate it within WARI.

Do you now have the urge to cut of all small Japanese cars 8) and park using 2 spots :lol: . Please let me know as I'm about to install a VR cruise control in my NA8.

The symptoms aren't that bad when you install the VL TPS, but I believe you do end up growing a mullet and wearing a flano shirt :lol:

BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!!! :mrgreen:

I have found a wrecker with a VL TPS.
I want to make sure it is a Variable from a AUTO.

I assume i can use a multimeter to confirm it is, but i would love to know exactly how to test it before i pay for it and leave.
Just looking at it should i be able to know?
Would it have more wires or something noticeable??

any help much appreciated!!!!

What you are after is a progressive and linear resistance change as you wind the TPS up and down.

The on/off TPS units are fail. You want a linear and progressive unit.

As for the wires you will test, buggered if I know as far as the VL TPS is concerned but there can't be that many...

Theres 6 on a VL tps. There is one connector moulded into the tps body, thats the switches, then there is a second connector that hangs off on 10cm of wires, this is the Variable connector.

Thanks mate.
I just picked up a vl TPs from a wreckers who assured me it was from a Auto.
Its just a on off switch.
I did not realise the auto ones have 2 plugs on them. So heading back now. Ughhh !!!!!!

what distance apart are the mounting holes for the VL TPS?

I have a B6t from a Mazda Familia (I think?) thats in my KE Laser, original TPS is a switch, upon removing it, I found extra holes in the throttle body for mounting a different TPS, just need to tap some threads ;)

The VL TPS needs SLIGHT filing, perhaps 0.5mm per side to install, the holes in the TPS almost perfectly line up.

yes, but I have a KE Laser, so was wondering if the extra hole spacing was the same as the MX5 throttle body.
