A hail damaged bonnet, especially, is not repairable by conventional panel beating.

I am also not a fan of the matt finish. Is there a glossy C/f finish available?

Vinyl wrap cannot hide hail damage though.

The only problem I have with the CF wrap is that it doesn't look real. As in it always looks like fake carbon. I wonder if anyone has put a clear coat over the top though. I could add another layer to the surface and look a little more real.

I don't think this stuff is designed to be painted over. :?

Is vinyl wrap available in clear?
A Mazda sales person recently mentioned to me that a clear 'plastic' coating could now be applied to the entire painted surface of any motorcar to protect the bodywork from stone chips and scratches AND, with particular reference to the Brilliant Black NC demo model I was looking at, would considerably reduce (if not completely eliminate) waxing in order to maintain the 'wet-look' shine..! I'm wondering if this process is the same thing as vinyl wrapping? Or is it a completely different application? Does anyone know anything about this please?

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

3M makes (or made) the film.

Thank you Okibi and Apu! After chasing up 3M on the Web, CERAMIC POLYMER NANOTECHNOLOGY CAR PAINT PROTECTION came up. I'm thinking that it is likely that it was this process that the Mazda sales person was referring to. The (QLD) company's blurb reads well but is coy about costs. A phone call will be necessary...

SP, believe that's the product & web site the sales person was refering to when they said 'Aussie Something' - just that we didn't think to Google 'Ozi', as opposed to Aussie, Ozzie, Ozzy!

I had mine done by Carbon Demon recently, they did a great job (http://carbonfibrevinylwrap.net.au/?page_id=17&album=20)

I'd not want to do it myself, requires much too much patience and a steady pair of hands.

BTW, I have no affiliation with the business.

Yeah Carbon Demon look very professional and I got a response really quickly from them when I asked for a quote on my NA in a black satin wrap.

I'd love to get it done but we've just bought a house on the Gold Coast so I'll have to put it back a little. Quote was VERY reasonable in my opinion and quoted timeframe was around 3-4 days. now I'll just have to respray my hard top for the drive from Sydney to GC in 6 weeks time. Really looking forward to the drive though.

I did my steering wheel centre in CF a few days ago, $7 for a A4 sheet of 3M CF film, this stuff looks the good and has the 3D texture and feel to it as well :)
