Floppy, skippy rear end WITH *FRONT* braces installed???

You'll get heaps of different opinions on this, both educated and otherwise , so instead of giving my opinion, simply remove both the top and bottom braces and find out. Both are easily removed so no biggie.
Report back once it's done.

iv just done the exact same thing to my car (Front shock tower brace and sway bar) its not causing anymore understeer then normal but the back end is all messed up. it feels like the car twists in the midle. the front is tight in the corners and the all over the shop. im think that the back needs it done as well, was always going to but just need the money.

I have lower control arm bracing at the front and rear, no issues at all.

Maybe try removing the strut brace first, I remember on my old roadster, I just had the front lower control arm brace and it drove fine ;)

Its a lie. Seriously though, If you have no braces the car feels ok, because the whole thing is a floppy 20 year old convertible, just bracing one end fixes it, but that accentuates the other ends issues, it doesnt cause them.

I have a strut brace of the exact design, it made almost no difference standard, ive modified mine a lot and now it makes a huge difference.

What modification did you make? I've got a tower brace i purloined off an SE and reckon it does little or nothing (except add weight).

It also get in the way of installing a brake cylinder stopper, so i'm thinking of either a) removing it entirely and putting in my brake stopper or b) fabbing a stopper to bolt onto the thing.

So, what modification?

Welded some square tube to tge mount, and to the chassis, so that the mounts have a bolt secuuring them along the plain they are acting on. Ill post photos.

I put a BD rollbar on my my car, it made the front feel floppy.

So I put a Whiteline strut brace on the front, now the car feels like it's twisting in the middle.

The hard coilovers accentuate the feeling.


I reckon the best my car felt was when I had SE Bilsteins with slightly lower springs and the rest completely stock.

I don't think i'll ever find that sweet spot with my current set up.

Ok Ill, post em up.

In this top photo you can see the large third bolt that secures it, anyone looking here can see without it there is nothing stopping the mount from flexing and rocking left and right (imagine a stool with just 2 legs). Also easy to see in this pic is the brake stopper, its got a slight angle so it touches the brake booster before its completely tight and pushes on it when its tightened.

This picture shows where the large thrid bolt goes. The lower block on the chassis is welded straight to the chassis.


This bottom pic shows how straight my alloy bar is compared to yours, so the push and pull transfers more force along it rather than bending it. this is achieved by straightening the bar a fair bit and turning the adjustment bolts all the way in so its 'shorter'.
