Best coolant reroute kit for a na6?

If anyone had experience with the coolant reroute kit,can you let me know which is the best kit to buy for a Na6.

I've used the MX-5 Plus spacer in my coolant reroute setup, however it's not yet a full kit so you will have to do some of the work yourself (or get it done).

Where does the spacer go? I thought it was just moving a few pipes around? Putting the thermostat on the back?

Lowers the temp of the cylinder closest to the firewall.

I grabbed a spacer on the weekend. Which thermostat cover did you use on your car? Did you put a 30mm freeze plug in the front of your motor?

I used a Kia thermostat cover P/N 0K24715172A as it was slightly bigger than the Protege one people are using; the hose clamped into it much better. I still have the Protege one sitting here if you want it.

Freeze plug in the front yeah, not sure on the size as it was a while ago now.

I'd be interested in grabbing your thermostat cover to try out. Is the BP the same size as the B6?

If you have the coin I reccomend buying a coolant reroute kit manufactured by M-Tuned. I just installed one in to my turbo NA8. I found the cheapest shipping was from 949Racing but you can buy direct from M-Tuned and Flyin Miata.

The kit is a stunning thing to look at. Nicely machine aluminium parts and everything you need to install is in the box apart from teflon tape and a few inches of wire you need to extend the temp gauge wires.

The install was a little tricky on my car because of all the other gubbins it has in the engine bay, if your car is stock or has a neater engine bay then you could install this kit very quickly.

^^ +1. This is the nicest kit you can buy ATM. Allows you to keep the standard EGR pipe (spacer requires removal), and does not necessitate moving the coil packs (which you may have to do with other options). VERY expensive but probably worth it for anyone wanting to keep their EGR and to pursue FI.

For those of you with the 2001+ car (or for others, if you are prepared to relocate your coil pack), this method is available:

digging up an old thread here, but can anybody tell me can these kits be installed with the motor still in the car? or do you have to pull them out to get to the back of the head?

If you are referring to the M-tuned kit, the answer is yes. It can be installed with engine in place. Major PITA, skinned knuckles etc, but definitely doable.

With the coil pack out it's possible. I found it difficult but certainly doable.

Yep I installed mine with the engine in place. I pulled the coil pack out and also removed the cam position sensor.....make sure you mark its position before removing it. You can not do it with the cam position sensor in place.

The trickiest bit I found was making sure that any old gasket material was removed from the back of the head before installing the new one. You can not see to make sure you have so be careful with that, I picked up a slight weep so had to pull it all out again.
You also need to use just the right amount of plumbers tape on the plugs; to much and you will wreck the thread or not get it to engage or to little and it will weep. There is a difference in tapes to, I made the mistake of using some blue tape I had lying around on a couple of plugs and it appears to either be attacked by a chemicle in the coolant or is not good with heat as it broke down. The plugs that had white tape were fine.
