Latest experience with these tyres was on a club run with the Victorian MX-5 Club to Woodend yesterday. The car gripped the road very well and the only slightly skittish moment was on a damp sharp U bend in Mt Macedon where I applied power early and hard and the tail did a bit of a shimmy. Backed off immediately and the car went back into line.
Otherwise it was awesome.

Guran is completely right about the alignment, and you probably should consider another alignment guy.
I align my own car (mate owns a panel beater and has a laser aligner there) and hes wrong 3 odd degrees is available at the front still retaining quite a bit of castor.
And yeah MX5s can be hairy in the wet, half the issue is the short wheelbase, the other half is that they do what you tell them to, and if you accidentally tell them to slide they will. You found out that they stop when you tell them that as well.
Whoever mentioned better and worse sections of road your absolutely correct. There are some local areas that I have a lot of trouble losing traction in the wet (I mean doing so sensibly, clutch kick and its no traction in the dry in 3rd) and other areas that I can dynamic drift (long slide initiated only by steering movement or throttle lift off) easily at legal speeds when its wet.

My alignment is now very good. I have no issues with the car from an alignment perspective. I pushed the car a fair bit and had no issues. The damp U turn with a rough road surface would have given most cars some issues. From memory it was off camber as well.

Big statement about a company you know nothing about and no knowledge of the actual car.
You might want to save the slagging off to things you do know about.

the front camber only now limited to -0.2 degrees on the left side. Apparently it cannot be adjusted to be more without me getting the top arm bushes changed. Ray did say it was not going to affect performance on the road but for the track the car would not have enough grip.
He increased the castor on the left hand side from 3.89 to 4.44. He left the right at 4.16.
The whole driving experience is now hugely improved. Its amazing that such small adjustments made such a difference. I owe this to the feedback and information provided by members of this community. The value of being a member of this great community was very clear to me today
I will 'slag' anyone who is supposed to be an aligner who says that an NA is limited to 0.2 mm of camber. I have 2.5 and stock design bushes. I align it myself. Im sure his computer says 0.2mm is the recommended setting but yoi do not need aftermarket bushes to get more unless your car had been in a major accident, and if it had he, as a 'suspension expert' should be able to easily recognise it. And how do I not know anything about the car. its an na like mine.....
