Swap electric mirrors / windows for manual?

Postby deviant » Tue May 10, 2011 3:21 pm

Is it possible to swap the electric mirrors and windows in my NA8 for manual ones or are there different holes / mouldings etc that prevent it?

I want to get a bit of weight out of the doors...would it make much of a difference? The car is a barely road dríven track car so it doesnt bother me not having electric gubbins.

The electric windows hardly weigh more than the manual ones, so why would you bother?

The only difference is you'll have to drill a hole in the door card for the handle, otherwise it's a direct swap over from power to manual, but Benny is correct. When I had my power mechanism out to put a manual one in, there was no noticeable difference in the weight. So if the ONLY reason you're doing it is for weight saving, I wouldn't bother.

Swapping from electric mirrors to manual mirrors is no problem. I just unplugged the electric mirrors and left the wiring inside the door (in case I feel the need to back to electric... for some reason :| )

Thanks guys, I will direct my efforts elsewhere. I suspected there would not be much in it....the doors on an NA are weighty things though!
