Setting Up Coilovers NC

I recently got a set of the new DGR Coilovers and I'm hoping to fit them today.

The guy's on miata.net who tested them posted some settings for the shock body and spring perch here - http://forum.miata.net/vb/showpost.php? ... tcount=155 - However when I set the front's up to this spec (no spare top hat so I can't do the rears yet) the spring has about an inch of movement. The post doesn't mention this so I'm not sure if I've done something wrong.

I've had a look around and some say it shouldn't be an issue on the road. Can anyone with experience fitting / setting up coilovers confirm that it won't be an issue?

I'm thinking the sway bar and bushings will apply pressure and get rid of that extra inch of movement when they are on the car, but I want to be sure before I spend the day fitting them.

sounds like you either need helper springs installed or move the spring perch bolts 1 inch upwards.

you need full spring capture otherwise the will move around when no load is put on that corner of the car, resulting in damage so suspension components.

The user on miata.net just got back to me and said the same thing. He was using a prototype version with a shorter shock body. I guess this makes sense now.

Hey Duggan Nugget,

How are the DGR coilovers? The group by is on again on the miata forum, same deal as before, i'm thinking about pulling the trigger.

Also, can anyone compare this DGR product to other similar coilovers? KW? YSR? what about the difference from stepping up to the pss10 or ohlins?

I don't have any experience with other coilovers (on any car), but these seem pretty good. The rebound adjustment is fairly linear, traction is good and when it breaks it is very predictable (at least on my old ku31's), height adjustability is good, I have mine set up at about 13.5" all around and it looks great.

They are pretty harsh. The front seems to absorb bumps a lot better than the back. I now hear my tool kit bouncing around over bigger bumps. I think they might be better with a softer spring in the rear. However, I am willing to put up with it. The car handles amazingly now!

My mates who have installed coilovers before said they were blown away. It handles like a gokart.
