I wouldn't go with a Sony headunit. You can do better for the money.

The rear windblocker speakers are useless and pointless anyway unless you need some sort of surround sound.

Great sounds in an open top car will always be difficult. The best I ever got was with an inverter powering a set of 240v Sennheiser wireless studio quality headphones. These of course defeated any wind noise or acoustic shortcomings of the cabin whether the roof was up or down and seemed to be worth about 300 watts. But they also insulated me completely from everything happening around me including other traffic. So they had to go. By the way, do motorcyclists have speakers in their helmets, and do these also make it impossible to hear what's going on around them?

BARMY now has an Alpine head unit with higher output and a Focal powered sub woofer. The combination seems to have given the standard speakers more chance to do a better job of the mid and top ranges, leaving the woofer to make plenty of bass. Not hi-fi, but pretty good for someone of advanced age who can't hear some frequencies anyway.

For anyone considering making an offer on BARMY who accidentally sees this post please be aware that he's for sale with the standard OEM audio setup.
UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

I have them I have the seats with holes for harness and aftermarket headunit with Front and Rear volume controlls. I have adjusted it all so I can hear it but seriously its probably not worth the extra weight....
