I think you would be safe with a mild roll out to about a +30 offset.
Any more aggressive than that and you will need to start pulling. This is assuming you run 205 rubber. If you run wider rubber than that, you will need more offset and/or more roll/pull.
EDIT: all this assumes that you don't necessarily want to run huge neg camber. If you do, then obviously you can fit more under there.

Re: will 17x8.5 fit???
just found out the offset is +13. these wheels will only be a temporary measure to get me thru rego at this stage.
i think the rubber is 235 wide, not shure yet.

Yep, you will need a huge roll/pull and/or massive negative camber.
There are easier ways to get through rego i'd wager

Let me get this straight... 17x8.5 +13 with 235/?? on an nb... at near standard height?
That wheel/tyre combo would stick out past the STOCK guards like crazy... which means there is no way it would pass registration . Maybe look for some stock wheels for now...

Find a friend or family member with a Honda Civic, Mazda 121, Ford Focus, or one of the other multitudes of other cars out there with 4x100 stud pattern. Borrow their wheels and tyres. Trust me, this will be much easier.
