Hi guys,
I tried to install my MS PNP today with no luck. I have looked at every install guide i can find but i am still unable to get the car to hold idle.
If anyone in sydney (north shore area) has any experience in tuning these things and would be willing to lend a hand (beers supplied) it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Eren

What model car?
What model PnP?
Describe what you have done and detail the symptoms.

Re: MS trouble
The car is a NA 1.6 running 14 deg advance
The megasquirt is a PNP MM9093 1.3
I have followed the instructions on the megasquirt website, following each step to the letter, but on startup the car runs really rough and stalls?
It holds revs at around 875 rpm (doesnt sound healthy at that rpm) then stalls
I didnt want to do any damage to the motor so changed the ecu back to standard and everything runs normaly.
Im very confused, any ideas?

Not that the extra 4 degrees should be causing a huge issue, but while the standard computer is back in set the base timing back to 10 deg and make sure that matches what the MS thinks base advance is. If the MS thinks the timing is 10 deg and it is actually 14 then it will be off over the whole map.

Re: MS trouble
Before i plugged the MS in I changed the timing back to 10 deg then changed the settings in the MS software
What i cant seem to understand is, the car runs smoother in the higher rev range but as soon as it comes to idle it runs like a bag of sh*t then stalls
Maybe an issue with the idle settings?

My experience is limited to 94 to 97 MS pnp, and for that the idle settings are OK with the msq they provide. Are you running a wide band? AFR at idle? Vacuums leaks?

Re: MS trouble
Have you done the TPS mod?
If you do not have a TPS installed, then you have an uphill battle getting her to run properly.
For any diagnosis we are going to need to know a lot of info, because there are dozens of things that could give these symptoms.
Could you upload a log?

Re: MS trouble
Hi guys,
I have come to the decision that im just going to wait till the turbo goes on and i'll take it mx5mania (or someone who can tune MS's) and get them to tune it.
I feel i will do some damage to the motor (if i havent already) messing around with the MS
Cheers for the help its just too difficult for me to understand - Eren
