My NB 99 seats suck !
As I can remember, my NA seats were quite a bit comfier and did hold me down during hard corners. I also felt the road quite a bit better because the NA seats in my previous NA 1989 held me down so well with its side supports.
My NB seats are leather seats so I am not sure whether they are original NB'99 seats or not. I am thinking of swaping over to NA seats or some cheap "DRIFT" seat which are ADR approved from Autobahn.
Can you please chime in on whether you find the NB'99 seats crappy too as mine may not be the original. Pity as everything else about the car is better preferred by me over my NA.

Re: My NB 99 seats suck !
If you do a search on seats you'll find plenty of info on this subject. Leather seats fitted to NB's were a dealer option - seats were recovered locally by Blackmans from memory. They look nice but are way too slippery to hold you in corners. Most owners agree that stock cloth NB seats are more comfortable than NA seats, and many leather NB seat owners (like me) have swapped their seats out for cloth versions or aftermarket seats.

Or you might prefer the later NB seats (with the higher back).
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Yeah, they do suck a bit (not in the way George would like though ). I got Mazdaspeeds put in. The difference is night and day. For some reason they got the seats quite wrong in the NB8A's, because the NB8B seats are a fair bit more comfortable.

A friend of mine was telling me about a blow-up doll he got, and that it had a hole in it.
I told him not to say anything to the company he bought it from, as they might charge him double for a doll that goes down on him!
Another friend told me how he got ripped off.
He ordered a penis enlargement kit, and all they sent him was a magnifying glass!
I told him he was lucky, they sent me a microscope!

Re: My NB 99 seats suck !
Hey guys,
Do you reckon it's worth swapping to an NA seat ? I remember the NA seat really holding me down in corners quite a bit better than my current seats. I feel like I am not enjoying or feeling corners as much because I am sliding around on the seats. How many of you actually use sports bucket seats like Recaro's and Sparco? Are these bucket seats suitable for long haul driving?

I think my NB8A seats are better than the ones in my NA6.

I don't see how that is possible. My NB8A seats are not uncomfortable but they provide very little lateral support when cornering. Even my Mazda6 seats is significantly better in holding me in during corners. Difficult entry and exit rule out using dedicated racing bucket seats as I use the car only for street driving and the occassional hillclimb.
I still reckon that the NA seats are one of the best in the business in terms of comfort and lateral support. My NA was manufactured in 1989 and had the cloth fabric seat so you may be referring to a different seat ?? I went to Maz Wreckers and boought a pair of 2001 seats as the NA one they had there weren't in a great condition. The 2001 NB looked like it would provide decent support and was pretty comfortable.

Re: My NB 99 seats suck !
NA seats should fit without any modification needed.
HOWEVER.
you must use the NB rail, as it's where the seatbelt buckle attaches. if you use an NA rail, then you're left with no seatbelt.
as for full buckets, I've got an OBX fixed back as my driver's seat and I find no issues with using it every day. The high sides do take some getting used to at first, but after a while it's not much different to any other seat.

Re: My NB 99 seats suck !
I believe NB8A seats are rubbish as well. I used to have to shift positions every ten or so minutes to keep comfortable and they had no support at all. My car has only done 60k and the only other owner was of average build so wear is not an issue.
I've since replaced the driver's seat with a Sparco Sprint and the difference is astounding. Support is obviously much better however comfort has also increased significantly which I wasn't expecting. One of the best mods I've done for sure.

This was the confirmation I was looking for as I was considering btwn the 2001 MX seats and Sparco Sprint. I put a $50 down payment on the 2001 seats so I think I will let it go and get the Sparco seats as well. I was a bit concern about long distance driving in the bucket seats but good support will always help. Thanks. I will go for the sparcos.
