When I put my foot down I get a rattling sound from the engine, sounds like pre ignition.
I have run it on unleaded and premium (Shell), still no change.
I have tried adjusting the timing, still no change.
Any ideas?

Re: NA8 Pre Ignition
Air leak after the air flow meter?
Insufficient fuel pressure?
What's the base timing set at (with the pins connected in the diagnostics box)?
Are you using the correct timing mark on the crank pulley?

When it was stock my NA8 absolutely refused to run on Shell V-Power. It would ping and miss for 200km then stop dead with hard little black nodules all over the spark plugs.

Insufficient fuel pressure? This needs special equipment, haven't checked.

Are you using the correct timing mark on the crank pulley? This could be a problem, there seems to be two nicks on the crank. One to the right of a painted white line.
Gee, I wonder where the oil leak is.

It is the painted one on the left which should be used for timing.
