Actually the link applies to all NA and NB motors. It correctly details the biggest risk when changing timing belts - poor refitting of the main pulley. If your mechanic got the timing wrong then did he also mess this up? Take the photos and talk about it.

Well the car is at the mechanics now.

I am really quite concerned that the issue wont be resolved because it was absolutely fine on the drive in this morning.
The belts are being tightened to eliminate belt whine so I suppose that's a good thing.

Well I started to really notice it about then.

It sounds like something that occurred after, or deteriorated to a point where it became noticeable following the service. Good luck today - hopefully they can sort it.

Thanks, yeah I don't mind if it's something that occurred or surfaced as a result of the service (new spark plugs causing old coil packs to act up maybe? or the battery starting to have issues?) and I'm prepared to pay for their services should it be that. I just want my car to be back to how it was!!

Okay well I got a call from my mechanic who's been over the entire car, checked everything and can't find anything wrong with it in terms of the lack of power. I did send him the link re the crank bolt and he double checked everything to do with that.
Guess we will have to wait and see if it manifests itself again...

At least I wont have any more belt whine!
