That guy has done most of the work himself and has still spent close to $40k
It outputs 400hp at the rears and has a huge amount of work done both to the engine and the car.[/quote]

I thought it was RX7 rear end?
I know the gearbox is Skyline 5 speed.

Could be? I think the point was he had more grunt but it was compromising the drive train.

Re: MX5 vs S15
My wrx was like that. Dont get me wrong it was a very quick car, but the power curve from a turbocharged car always makes it feel like you've just hit 3000 revs and jumped to hyperspace.
Its that hit of power out of no where that messes with you.
I found with my wrx I was the king of The traffic light Gran Prix and loved every minute of it. But it got old pretty quickly and I find the mx5 to be an awesome all rounder.
If it were me i'd be spending the money on the mx5. Power is the only thing I think the mx5 is missing and that can be fixed with a deep enough wallet.

Re: MX5 vs S15
About the drivetrain problems with power,
5 speeds are good for 250rwhp,
6 speeds are god for 350rwhp,
I have 4 broken 1.6 diffs all broken N/A,
1.8 Diffs are good for 350 rwhp,
RX7 FC diffs are the same as MX5 1.8 diffs.
