You have PM - I've done a quick photo manipulation in MS Paint, it'll give you a good idea.

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone! :)

Car's looking pretty damn good Crapweasel!

Now for the pista de resistance:

(ie. "stripe time")

Thanks Lokiel!

For a while there I was tempted by the idea of the stripes, but as soon as I saw the car this morning with the skirts fitted, I knew I'd found just the look I was after and the stripes weren't what I was after any more... :)

It does look tidier, but bear in mind you're going to be left with holes that will need filling, as I found out the hard way...

Both the MX-5 and Mazda badge have pins with strong clips behind them. The SE badge is no problem, apply the normal string/fishing line theory and it's all good.

There's a crapload of dirt behind the badge though, so be careful!

Update!

Finally got around to fitting the throttle body inlet tube replacement - the stock one is rubber, and is prone to cracking and stretching under boost.
I opted for the BEGi one, as I preferred the black ripple paint look instead of the chrome that they have on the FM version.

Couple of tips for those of you thinking about this mod, who have the Go Fast Bits plumb back BOV:

The BEGi kit doesn't allow for even the stock outlet fitments on the BOV.
The pipe they supply for the correct fitment to the GFB valve with the correct outlet doesn't fit their own TBI pipe!! (WTF?)
If you have the AEM intake, the rubber hoses on the exhaust side are going to be welded on due to the heat, and you'll have to cut them off.
You'll also need a length of 19mm heater hose - available from Supercheap for $16 - thanks to Lokiel for this hot tip, in order to refit the BOV to the left side if the throttle body intake, and still join it to the intake pipe on the other side of the engine bay.

Total time was 2 hours including having to go out to get a new set of multi grip pliers, as I uesd to have a pair, but they went AWOL sometime over the years.

I'd post pics, but the engine bay doesn't look all that different - maybe a little tidier is all.

Next up - getting the brain reprogrammed!!

Stay tuned for details.

Car is back, and it was worth the wait!

ChipTorque have figured out how to re-flash the ECU to get more out of it! My car was the test pilot, and the results speak for themselves. They not only re-flashed the ECU, but added a GFB Atomic boost controller and decided to find out how much boost the car is happy with. It now goes up to 14!

Turns out that the output was 130KW at the wheels, which isn't too bad, but now it's a whole different beast!

The power & torque are definitely much better and there's no hesitation down low, the turbo spools up earlier, and that's about all I know so far - only having had the chance to go from 85-110 while overtaking on the freeway - because of the weather :|

I arrived at Nerang where it was raining. Collect the car, dive home in the rain, get home and it's raining more, so no chance to have a launch to 100km/h which there's a perfect motorway entrance not far from here for doing just that. Hoping for a fine day tomorrow to test out my new 152.8RWKW and more boost!!

PS - these figures are on stock injectors!

No AFR numbers Dave, but they have some better datalogging gear coming from the States, and the car will be going back for another shot to see if there's any other tweaks that it likes, so will ask if Lachlan can give some me some figures.

Methinks it will like the "larger injector" tweak :)

If you're taking it back again, keep tabs on what the guys in the states are using because your injectors will now be the limiting factor.

Did they give you an afr chart and or tell you what the injector duty cycles were?

Finally got around to installing the Thompson Nautilus air horn today - a fairly simple job, except for one small issue.

Someone installed a great big intercooler, so it doesn't fit in the same place as the stock "meep meep".

Fortunately, there's a gap in the engine bay on the passenger's side rear of the headlight. Being black & silver, visually it looks like it belongs there, as long as you don't think of it as being a horn.

It's probably as loud in that location as the stock one is in the right place, except it now doesn't sound like the roadrunner!

New install today - custom Mazdaspeed floor mats.

Take one set of MX5 branded mats, screw on aluminium Mazdaspeed badge on top, and voila!
