Working on the poor Mixy, to bring it back from it's lacklustre state, I was under the car today replacing the fuel filter. I shook out some petrol from the filter and it was gunged with black stuff and grit and I have no idea if it'd been replaced more than once in the car's life. After replacing it the performance picked up and engine response sharpened, plus a little stutter in the engine idle everyso often after warmed up has dissappeared.
Replaced the air filter and cleaned out the throttle body and sensors, the ol roadster picked up again.
Now to get rid of the terrible brakes, suspension, clutch and exhaust and we should be back in business

Keep it up! And after you've done all that you'll be tempted to get some chassis bracing, roll bars and even more! Maybe it's time I replace the fuel filter too

I have a new one sitting over in the shop... I think i'll put a tank or two through the new girl before installing it, heaven knows what crap is on the bottom of the tank after sitting for 6+ months.
On a related note, I drained nearly a full tank of crappy old fuel out of the car yesterday. Cleaned the proofcoat off the 17mm drain plug in the tank, put it up on the hoist and pulled the plug. What a bloody awful mess that caused - petrol everywhere, thanks to the strategic location of OEM chassis bracing directly under the bung...
Holding the funnel up to the bung - ended up with petrol right down my armpit. Kinda stung a bit :p
