does anyone know the stock wheel stud specs? (NA6)

Postby Chi3f » Tue Mar 01, 2011 6:54 pm

Hi, sorry if it's been covered before but the search feature didn't return anything too interesting.

I was wondering if anybody knows the specs for the wheel studs on the NA6? Or can direct me to a place where they would be able to tell me....
I'm after information like ....thread pitch, overall length...size (M14, M12 etc)....conical or ball seat?

would any of these products suit?

The reason being is that I am looking to get 20mm spacers and need longer bolts/studs to accommodate them....anyone know of any reputable shops in Sydney that carry these things?

Thanks in advance!

If you want to get 20mm spacers, (and haven't got them yet) then you would be much better off to get the bolt on ones, rather than the slip in ones.
You'll have a much safer mounting method, as well as no need to get longer studs...

I thought about getting those intensely but my main worry with those is that I won't be able to fit my wheels cos the car's studs will be poking through making it impossible to fit them flush with the spacer, my wheels do have those spaces in the..mounting bit? to accommodate the car's wheel studs but I'm unsure if it's enough.... they are definitely the easier option and cheaper too according to my number crunching, another thing I've been thinking about is possible weight gains (my car has gotten a bit fat over the last year)....maybe I'm being a bit crazy....

...but it'll be a while before I’ll get around to actually buying the spacers....

What sort of wheels do you have. Most wheels are recessed beside the bolt holes so the extra 5mm or so of thread sticking past the spacer fits into that.

I ran 25mm spacers on my previous car and they weighed about 0.5kg each..

20mm bolt on spacer would be better an a normal spacer with longer studs. from memory the ARP studs are 15mm longer than OEM ones. so really that option is not gonna happen. bolt ons also normally allow for the hubcentric ring to be fitted or welded to it.

As in the second picture above, these spacers had the hub centric ring built into the spacer.
