So,
If this has already been covered please just point me in the right direction.
I wasnt sure what this topic would be called, so my searches were unsucessful..........
Right, so last night i picked up my 04 SE (yay)
i noticed in the "mode" section of the stereo, there is a MD/TAPE button, but i have no tape or MD....
So, does that mean i have a spare port, that i can convert to AUX to run my iPOD off?
If so.... information on how other people have done this.
04 SE, Audio.... MD/Tape convert to AUX in?

Hi Dave,
Whilst this may not answer your question directly, one of these was a simple fix and you have the added advantage of being able to mount the input jack out of sight, either in the glove box or the centre console.

Cheers. Greg.
P.S. Somewhere on the big forum there are details of several factory fitted head units. You may find an answer there.

When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

Re: 04 SE, Audio.... MD/Tape convert to AUX in?
Thanks Greg,
At work its hard to do alot of research, but a quick google showed there are some modules out there.
Some of the ones i saw will keep the track buttons ect and actually control your ipod..... possibly adding charge, and more importantly switichg the ipod off after the ignition is turned off.
I think this is key for a few reasons.
- i always forget to pause my ipod after i jump out of the car.... when i come back its flat
- no seperate charging cable for your ipod
- ipod can be secured in glove box, so nobody is the wiser of its existance..... i dont want anyone slashing my roof for it.
- plus its just easier to skip songs on the next track button in the car.
Ill do a heap of research into them, which offerest the most features, for the best price and is the most compatible (some down work with all types of ipod)
If people are keen might even try to organise a group buy? not that i think there will be much saving apart from postage.
MX5 Mania had no knowledge about them either, i will let them know what i come up with, as i think its a great add on (some are bluetooth compatible too!) without ruining the factory feel of the car.
anyway..... watch this space.

Hey , let us know what you find Dave.
I want to do the same thing in my 02 and put the iPod in the Centre Console.
Would be keen on a group buy if you find something.
don't really want to go the FM transmitter road. Don't think they work that well
