Setting nb diff preload

Postby enzosRus » Tue Mar 01, 2011 11:32 pm

Just wondering if anyone knows how much to preload an nb diff center. Ive welded the centre and replaced the bearings but im guessing with the new bearings and slight distortion of the center the preload has changed. I marked the outer rings which push against the bearings and counted the turns as i loosened them and removed the centre but was wondering if anyone knew exactly how to tighten them? Or should i just re-assemble as marked?

There's about 5 pages of description of assembling the bearings in the factory manual. We have copies at http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=41364 and http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=76&t=37363.

If you can't download them from there then just pm me with an email address and which model and I'll send you the rear axle section. It's 270k - just too big to attach here.
