I doubt it, i mean who would want one? Except me. Totally impractical for road use.

I am sure you will find someone and as you will have the moulds worth letting people know. Maybe for a show car? good to see it going forward .I know there is a lot of work to get it up to moulding though.

Sure is, probably a week just to get the basic shape and then i have to do the final fairing of it all. Paint and prep, make flanges for the moulds, as they are going to be vac infused. Still it's something i like to do and i want to do it. Here is what the rear guard will look like.

All the guards are done and just need final sanding before i can undercoat them.

Looking great, Will you still achieve the light weight you are looking for when finished?

Yep, seeing as the guards are going to be vac infused c.f it isn't going to add any weight being wider. What i am doing with the body modifications is trying to control the airflow better than a standard mx5.

Looking like a bit more futuristic without wheel openings. I think 1 more day and it will be ready for paint and moulding.

Do you think you are going to get that much effect from those ? bits on the top of the rear arches compared to the hassle they are going to add to mould and laying up carbon?

I like the idea of them, they will create a low pressure and draw more air out from the wheel arch (there will be holes along that part). As to if it will help much, who knows. If i put as much as possible into the aero hopefully the whole package will work enough to justify doing it. It is a bit more hassle, but nothing over the top to do. I would also like to have vents above the front wheels, but it is too much trouble to do. Maybe later i will make some and stick em on. Same for the bonnet, i don't know the size of the hole i will need for the intercooler yet, so it will be something that i will make and stick on later.

OMG.

Here I was thinking that adding bonnet vents and a rear wing to my car was going overboard!

I would have had at least part of the moulds made over the weekend, but we bought the house we wanted in bentleigh sat morning at auction ($100,000 more than our "limit"). And had to go unwillingly to shep for the rest of the weekend to make 91 bottles of tomato sauce. Still, it is very close to being ready only a couple of flanges to go now. I will get a pic up when the tooling gelcoat goes on.
