Hi, before I take my NB to the electrician Im just wanting to get an idea of what could be wrong.
Basicly my air con has always been pretty weak, but I now noticed it just blows ambient air, though the light comes on, I can hear a click and rpm rise, but the 2nd cooling fan doesnt come on. I noticed this days after having my front bumper resprayed at a panel shop. I noticed my 2 relays behind the headlights were a little rusty/mouldy, gave it a wd40 wash and they look much better, but still no luck.
Just wondering if that if its not coincedental that my bumper was resprayed, is there any bits near the bumper that a potential monkey could of could broken or detached when fitting the bumper?
Adam.

Re: Air con not working
I had a similar problem in my NB, except I didn't have the RPM rise, nor did I recently have repair work done. Turned out I was just out of gas.
There was a thread that got started on this a while back (possibly by me... can't quite remember) that has some useful diagnosis info regarding air con, so it may be worth having a read through that to see if anything in there will help you out before taking it to an auto electricians / mechanics.

just take it to the auto air specialist in your area-you cannot recharge it yourself . It will not have anything to do with the bumper respray.

Re: Air con not working
Mine stopped getting cold after a couple of years and I just payed $1100 to get it fixed. Lesson learnt is to have it serviced every year as the filter gets clogged and then the compressor wears out.

If the compressor comes on and the extra fan is not working then you have found 1 problem, you need both fans to get the A/c operating properly. Check the top of the receiver there is a sight glass, if bubbles are coming through there you system needs to have the leak rectified and then the dryer replaced, oil added and system charged.
Generally I prefer to just rectify the obvious problems and then once the system is running go over and service as required.
Please take it to a auto air company and get a couple of quotes. I get some stupid quotes bought into us and some are a bloody ripoff.
