Michael - I'd think that anyone who is a member of a CAMS affiliated club would be eligible for the CAMS insurance cover offered on an MX-5 Club run.

If you invite the mr2 club on this run I would be covered under CAMS.
This is strictly a run for members of the MX-5 Club NSW. On a normanl BreakFast Club or MX-5 Club event you are covered by your membership of a CAMS affiliated club and would be covered by CAMS insurance irrespective of whether your Club was invited.
I have invited the MR2 Club to runs in the past with little participation and would do so again if they were interested on an early run. Ask your Club Captain and get back to me if they are interested in a breakfast run. If the MR2 Club wish to do a cruiser run to lunch then I will put them in contact with Mark Garvin.
If you wish to join us oin the MX2500 then the only option is for you to be a full member of one CAMS affiliated club and an associate of the MX-5 Club NSW for 2011.

Hi Bryan,
CAMS cover for Public Liability and Professional Negligence extends to runs held by a CAMS affiliated club issued with a CAMS Permit for the event, its members and to any member of a CAMS affilited club on my reading of the Insurer's Handbook. The MX2500 is an official event of the MX-5 Club and will have a CAMS Permit.
The cover is available to mr2 spyder but due to the cap on numbers the MX2500 is restricted to MX-5 Club NSW members only.

So my Mx5 Club of VIC membership for 2011 won't cut it?

Hi Alex,
Membership of the MX-5 Club of Victoria is membership of a CAMS accredited club and therefore you sign on for any MX-5 Club NSW event with its members and anyone else who is a member of a CAMS affiliated club. These reciprocating rights do not make you a member of the MX-5 Club NSW but Mexicans are always welcome.
In the early stages of organising the run I was in contact with the Vics about meeting at the border for a run around the Alps on the Saturday then down the Great Alpine Way on Sunday. Due to accommodation problems that idea had to be abandoned. I am to contact the Vic again now that the event has been announced about meeting up at Bright on Saturday morning for a run down the Great Alpine Way with a seafood lunch by the estuary at Lakes Entrance and beyond.
As a Vic, I extend to you an invitation to join the run in a MX-5 but cannot stretch the envelope to cover a MR2 with a tricked up grill even if it were to travel in reverse gear all the was (unless MR2 Spyder or his passenger were a member of our club or a reciprocating MX-5 club), besides that the black MR2 goes faster than most MX-5s.

Michael,
Our eldest daughter has been very ill this week and we've not had an opportunity as a family to talk about going on a road trip. So I must adopt the default answer of no; I will not be able to participate in the MX2500 this year.
Apologies for any inconvenience...

[quote="Tony"]Michael,
Hi Tony,
I hope all turns out well for your family. I was looking forward to following the lines of an old trackie around the high country. Your presence will be sorely missed.
As you will not be with us on the MX2500, could you review our route from the linked Google Maps and let me know if we have missed any great roads following your run in early January and knowledge of the area.

Perhaps it's an ancient 'no-rain' ritual?...
I just hope that all the rain will fall today and leave us with a clear path for the weekend
