NA6 Engine Replacement

Postby Stag76 » Thu Jan 20, 2011 9:41 pm

I'm replacing the short-nose crank engine in my NA Eunos Roadster (1989) with a Long-Nose 1.6 engine from an Automatic Transmission car (1992). I'll be using the existing alternator, PAS pump and air-con compressor. Apart from the flywheel, are there any other differences in these engines (eg TPS).

Indeed, understand the auto NA6 B6 motor had a different TPS, but perhaps more importantly it had lower compression pistons, different cams, less peak HP, & torque at lower RPM: http://www.solomiata.com/Mx5Engine.html

if the tps is different you should still be able to convert the current loom to suit the new tps

or just replace the engine only. ie, cam cover, head, block, sump. everything else you keep from the original car.

don't go chopping stuff and swapping stuff you don't need to.

I agree with this.

Swap bare motor for bare motor
