Sorry, no actual shots of mine, but its a JVC BT-22

USB in is a nice add, but the bluetooth aint that great when fitted to an NA6 - too much vibration through the tunnel

I modded it and moved the microphone out of the chassis up onto one of the pillars, and this is much better... but not great with the roof off or doing 110 on the freeway !

Fantastic sound when mated to my Alpine 6 1/2 splits and a 12" Jaycar sub in boot :)

good luck !
If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits eighty-eight miles per hour ... you're gonna see some serious s**t.

Clarion HX-D2 in my 1989 NA6.

It's a competition SQ head unit so no flashing lights, no animations, no fancy LCD screens...just a simple brushed aluminium / shadow chrome finish and vacuum florescent display.

Probably not to everybody's taste visually, but I much prefer the understanted look. :)

Pioneer FH-P80BT Car USB MP3 Tuner (pictures are a bit old - now have chrome Voodoo gear knob and handbrake).

See http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=38070&p=505615&hilit=Pioneer#p505615 for details.

This unit is quite understated and most importantly is very easy to use while driving (doesn't have "a bazillion" buttons all crammed together making it impossible to use while driving in traffic).
Don't worry about dying, worry about not living!

+1 :)

There was a photo of mine installed in my SE in the garage section (if it ever returns). It's been a great unit other than some audio dropouts with my iPod Touch. Bluetooth works fine other than the problem of an open topped, highway speed MX5 not being the quietest place to chat. :)

Hi All,

My CASKA unit died after draining my battery twice, its cooling fan just keep going constantly even after the car was turned off, opened it up and had a look and a capacitor had exploded inside, it was a mess, lucky there wasnt a fire. :frown:

Anyhow my wife said I should go buy myself a new radio , opportunity knocks  so I immediately went online and did a search and here is the head unit I chose:

Image

You can configure the logo it displays.

I installed it myself, I had to cut off the end of the wiring harness that came with it and wire it up to an ISO adaptor (Ford one works just fine in MX5) its all colour coded so its easy to match up using the wiring diagram on the top of the unit. It didnt quite fit neatly but it is fine for my purposes. I installed the GPS antannae inside the round top cover over the instrument panel and ran the wire down to the unit.

It has all the same features as the CASKA unit except the tire pressure sensor input but it also came with a infared reversing camera unit and reversing sensors, they even threw in the hole saw for the sensors, havent installed those yet.

Here is the main menu:

Here is the SatNav starting up:

Here is the GPS in action:

It has IPOD and USB connectivity:

And it even has a radio

If you want more details on the unit then go to:

Thats where I got mine, it was sent via Australia Post and arrived in two days.

Very happy with this purchase.
