Fuel Filter Location

Postby Robbo » Fri Feb 11, 2011 9:43 am

After my problems with the5's engine that, still continues I think the problem may be the fuel filter. After checking all my service records I can find no mention or, charge for a fuel filter. I have had the car and, have done over 60,000k in it. It appears the filter has never been changed. So the question is "Where is the fuel filter located on a NB8A ???"
The service dept. could find no fault in the car. They thought I had picked up a dirty load of fuel. All the more reason to change the filter. So why didn't they change it?? Who knows? Can anyone tell me where to get a filter apart from going to Mazda and paying through the nose? :NB8A:
Cheers

If they are located in the same place as an NA, they are in front of the drivers rear wheel under the car.
behind a plastiuc flap.

Have a look at Mania or maybe check with Mazda.
I bought one for my NA6 from Mazda and i believe it was like $35.

Yep I have sussed that out. Googled it. It appears it is the same on NA's & Nb's behind a plastic flap where you said. Now all I have to do is get to it.

make sure you depressurise the fuel system.

In the NA there is a yellow connector under the steering wheel panel that you dissconnect and let the engine run out of fuel.
Then make sure you have something to plug the fuel lines with as quite alot will spill out and also make sure its done in adequate ventilation..

Yep know all that. The site I Googled explained it all including getting the pressure back in the fuel system after you have finished. And what I can't puff on a cancer stick. You take all the fun out of it. Lucky I don't smoke

I used appropriately sized drill bits, worked perfectly
