how do I tell what I have got???? engine number. casting number. what??? dieing to know??? Thanks in Advance

Long nose motor
How many slots does your crank pulley have. Short nose has 4 long nose has 8.
That's the easiest way I know.

This is fantastic Info. It explains the cause of the issues and best method to avoid any catastrophe with the short nose engine. The most interesting was the way the belt drive cog was changed on early Vs late engines.
I have just ordered my new woodruff key and crank bolt from Mazda for the huge sum of $30... I will update you all on the drama of install....
Apart from Mazda............ trust nothing else...
