Here's a vid of my current Clubman circuit PB....it's quite obvious that there's room for improvement!

Due to things being a bit slow on the race car front, I took the opportunity to change out the factory Bilsteins and King spring combo for a second-hand set of Tien Flex's with EDFC. I hope with a bit of adjustment I may be able to smooth out the ride through turn 2 at Queensland Raceway. The EDFC is still to be wired in. I just plugged everything in, added some power and an earth, then reset the dampers and set a starting point.

Here's some piccies.....

7kg/mm Front and 6kg/mm Rear.

Yup, I ran them all in reverse at the last club track day to extend the tyre life by evening out the uneven wear caused by Queensland Raceway. They have now been returned to their usual operating direction. :P

Quick update today and especially important news for South-East Queensland forum members who are using Megasquirt ECU's.

Over the past 10 weeks OMX-596 has been with GT Auto Garage (in Newmarket, Brisbane) to address a number of issues that weren't able to be resolved at the time when the tuning was first undertaken back in February of this year (NB: different tuner). The problems were as follows:
    (1) Poor cold starting
    (2) Unable to hold an idle with the air-conditioning on.
    (3) Unable to start and hold an idle with the air-conditioning.
    (4) Intermittent and random idle hunting irrespective of engine load.

I left the car with them indefinitely so that they would have plenty of time to become proficient in tuning Megasquirt and therefore be able to provide a Mega-squirt tuning service that was desperately needed in South-East Queensland. Well the good news is that all of the four items have been rectified, and the bad news is that there isn't any!  I have left the car with them so that some road testing can be performed and any fine adjustments made.

Further to resolving the above issues they tweaked the tune. The below graph tells the story. 8)
    Maximum boost: 6psi (non-intercooled)
    Peak rear wheel hp: 150.6rwhp @ 6,500rpm
    Peak engine torque: 188.1Nm @ 3,100rpm

The real kicker is the virtually flat torque curve (and I use the word "curve" very loosely  ) with no less than 185Nm available from 2,500rpm through to 5,250rpm. Which generates a virtually straight power curve....and I use the word "curve" very loosely once again! It just makes for such a sweet drive! 8)

This is a video of the power run.....

In other news, MX-5 Plus Service and GT Auto Garage have now combined to offer an even wider range of products and services to the MX-5 fraternity. More information regarding this alliance will be published early in 2010. So stay tuned! :D

Danny

Great news and great power figures, please put an intercooler on her.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Well that 12 months went fast! Not too much to report except that I got an opportunity to test a HKS F-Con IS piggy back ECU on OMX-596. Well all I can say is wow! :D The finer fuel and spark mapping yielded another 10 rwhp with no other mechanical changes. With this arrangement the factory ECU is reinstated. After reinstalling the factory ECU, I must say that nothing controls all the niceties of the engine as well as it does. The test resulted in the F-Con IS becoming a permanent fixture.

You gotta love the sound of a positive displacement blower coupled with a six speed & 4.3 torsen!

Wow what a fantastic job you have done on it. Very rare to see a car that I totally like but you have achieved it. Way up there with the best I have seen.

So what's happened over the last two years?......about 500km! That is all. :P Still love the super flat torque curve.

Put some new (had them for a couple of years) shoes on her last week...RPF1's in 17 x 7" shod with 205/40R17 Toyos.
